Update for HCHS Competition Squad
Competition Camp has been rescheduled for August 9-10. Camp June 24-25 has been CANCELLED.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Cheer Reminders for June
Cheer camp is quickly approaching and there are a few reminders I’d like to send your way.
1 - Don’t forget the second half of your payment is due next week. Heather will be out of town June 4-6 for yearbook camp. If you’d like to pay on Monday, she and Lynn will be in Clinton and we can also give you your camp clothes. However, if you’d rather wait, you’ll need to get Lynn your money on Wednesday. It would really be better if you could try to get it to us on Monday, for camp clothes purposes, but we understand if you’d like to wait.
2 -Coke order forms NEED to be picked up on Monday- we will be at the high school from 11:00-1:00. Remember, these sales will go towards your cheer package this fall. Cokes are our best fundraiser, because they’re easy to sell. Make the most of it :)
3 -We need the NCA camp forms (these were sent home with a calendar), returned ASAP. Just drop it by the high school at any time and the office can put it in our mailboxes.
4 -On the calendar you received that broke down each day at camp, one of these days is Crazy Day. As long as the girls wear their T-shirt, shorts, bow, and tennis shoes that day, anything else is fair game. Each girl can decide how she’d like to spice up her outfit.
5 -If you do not own a pair of spanks (black or red), please contact someone who will to see if you can take theirs to camp. When we wear our red uniform, you MUST have spanks on underneath. I’m not picky over which color you choose for camp. All cheerleaders from last year should have two pairs (one red and one black).
6 -When we leave on Thursday for camp, each girl should be dressed in her camp outfit and ready to leave the High School at 9:15.
7 -Finally, on Sunday, this is the day that parents are allowed to attend the awards ceremony at camp. Please feel free to come support our girls. The awards ceremony will start at 11:15.
1 -Last reminder we have for you is a couple of packing tips. Please remember, we will be staying in dorm rooms, which means you need to bring everything you need, including bedding. It makes no difference whether or not you choose to bring a sleeping bag or sheets, but there will only be a mattress on the bed, nothing else. Don’t forget a pillow either :)!

Merit/Demerit System
HCS Cheerleading Merit and Demerit
System
In order to create a squad that is
responsible, reliable, and honorable, the coaches have decided to set forth a
merit and demerit system for the upcoming 2012-2013 cheer squads. Merits and
demerits can be issued by either coach and are set in stone. Every cheerleader
is responsible for their own actions- no one else.
Merits
Merits are given for conduct above and beyond the
expectations of a cheerleader. Demerits earned under the Attendance and
Tardies, and Performance Behavior can be cancelled out by acquiring 5 merits for every 1 demerit. Merits cannot cancel demerits earned for
Misconduct.
3 A/B Honor roll or above each 9
weeks
3 Perfect attendance at school (all
day, each class) for each 9 weeks
2 Perfect attendance at all
practices and performances for each 9 weeks
1-5 The sponsor may assign merits for
special assignments, performances, and volunteering, etc.
Demerits
After 15 demerits have been received,
a member is dismissed from the squad for the remainder of the school year.
A. Attendance and Tardies
5 Unexcused absence from a performance or activity
4 Unexcused absence from any practice
3 Unexcused
tardy to any practice, performance, or activity (more than 5 minutes)
B. Performance Behavior
2 Failure
to wear the correct uniform or attire to practice
2 Persistent
inappropriate behavior during performance or activity (talking/laughing on
sidelines)
3 Failure
to wear the correct uniform or attire to a performance or activity
3 Not
learning and/or knowing cheers, chants, dances
3 Failure
to return to the court on time after halftime
3 Chewing
gum while leading cheers, eating or primping on sidelines (this includes
practice)
3 Not
following directions
3 Using
cell phone during practice, performance, activity without permission
3 Missing
any part of the uniform (including shoes, poms, etc.) or wearing prohibited
items (hair not up, headband, no bow/wrong bow, wearing jewelry, colored nail
polish, etc.)
C. Misconduct
15 Any conduct
resulting in an arrest by law officials
15 Possession or consumption of alcohol,
tobacco, drugs, etc.
10 Any disciplinary action resulting in
assignment to the District’s Alternative School
10 Inappropriate media: pictures/language
(phone pictures/videos, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
10 Any disciplinary action resulting in
suspension from school
10 Wearing uniform in public when not
with the squad or sponsor without permission from sponsor
5 Unladylike
conduct at any time (disrespect toward sponsor, other cheerleader, or any other
adult in a supervisory role). (In uniform or not) This includes inappropriate
language.
3 Any offense that results in a
detention (other than tardies)
As a cheerleading accumulates Demerits, the
following will occur:
3 Demerits Written Warning from cheer sponsor
5
Demerits Parent
notification, Physical conditioning
10 Demerits Parent meeting and suspension (length to be
determined by administration and sponsor) and physical conditioning
15
Demerits Removal
from Cheer Squad
Physical conditioning may also be assigned at any time for any of the above. It can
be individual or team conditioning.
